The original website project for Potawatomi came with many challenges. With the old website on a complex CMS, the new website needed to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders in a wide range of departments, across several locations. The big challenge was to provide specific groups and users the ability to perform only selected actions related to user management, including adding content, events, dining, and updating user information. They also needed the ability for multi-domain management.
The project began in 2009 with the strategic decision by the Casino to empower the managers of the many business units to update their own areas of the site with a tool that could balance power with ease of use. While Trivera has worked with several different content management systems, Concrete was mutually determined to be the best choice for Potawatomi Hotel and Casino’s new site. A relative newcomer to the CMS arena at the time, Concrete’s array of powerful plug-ins, extensions and add-ons, plus an extremely user-friendly administrative interface made it an obvious choice.
With all of their domains and content in one system, Potawatomi was able to better manage their internal workflow.
While Trivera has developed hundreds of complex websites and web-based applications for clients, using a variety of content management systems over their 20 years in business, the Potawatomi Hotel and Casino site was, and continues to be one of their most ambitious sites to date created using Concrete CMS. The wide and varying business units within the Casino include several restaurants, entertainment venues, bingo hall, off-track betting room, table games and slot machines. The decision to use Concrete as the platform to bring all those business units to the website proved to be the right one as the project launched, fully functioning on the originally scheduled launch date, on time, on scope and on budget.
In 2014, Trivera implemented a new look and adaptive design created by Potawatomi’s team. Plans are in place to relaunch a fully responsive version of the site in 2016 using version 5.7
In addition to the primary site at paysbig.com, Potawatomi Hotel and Casino also uses Concrete to manage their employee intranet, and sites for two other annual events: The Hunting Moon Pow Wow and MKE NY Eve, a site that, using their experience with Concrete CMS, the Potawatomi team was able to design and develop entirely themselves.
